Greetings all. I have had a long break. It felt important to leave the front page to Flash Frontier’s wonderful stories of love in the aftermath of Al Noor and as a remembrance and acknowledgement to the Muslim people of NZ. I am grateful for the new climate of aroha and acceptance which has happened in Aotearoa in recent times. We need this type of climate change in order to deal with the changes to our weather patterns. All of us working together for a better world.
“This project was inspired by the beauty of Rototai Beach and the connected Motupipi Inlet inlet, by walking out to the tide beyond horizons, which allows one to look back at the whole of Golden Bay and the mountains behind, including the Kahurangi and Abel Tasman Parks. It is my gift to this place. The poem has been placed on an ancient boulder, a work of art in itself…so old that one can imagine a dinosaur using it for a back scratch. My hope is that people use this boulder as a viewing point not just for the poem but for the pure joy of looking out to the sea and inlet in a spirit of kaitiakitanga or guardianship, of Rototai and its environs. I fell that the boulder put itself forward for this purpose. It has such a feeling of strength, solidity, peace and wisdom. It is also pockmarked by life as you can see in the photo.
All are welcome to this event: Date Saturday 13th July, Time 11am. It will start with a karakia and the unveiling and everyone is invited to share a cuppa and light refreshments and listen to the haunting music of the flute.
