Tuesday Poem – The Love song of J. Alfred Prufrock by T.S. Eliot

I can remember studying T.S.Eliot at school. I didn’t like him. He was out of my league. As I grew in experience and knowledge my opinion has changed and now he seems almost old fashioned. (He was a modernist after all.) I have just listened to him reading the above poem, possibly his most famous, and enjoyed the sounds and rhythms, the tones of regret. I am not going to attempt to explain it to you but this site here offers what seems like a reasonable summary. If you want to read the poem itself go to the Poetry Foundation. You can find out more about Eliot here.
